CoverageThe Paper
01

Learning from a local practitioner.

The Paper reported that members of FRC Team 11019 visited Tang Jiachang, a representative practitioner of Songjiang shadow puppetry. The article connects the team’s work with 3D printing and digital tools to the preservation and reinterpretation of traditional patterns.

02

A different setting for technical skills.

The report also describes shadow-puppetry-themed items associated with the team’s Hawaii Regional appearance. It is a specific example of robotics students working with cultural material beyond the competition field.

The project brings three skills together: understanding traditional patterns, preparing digital models and choosing how to fabricate them. The craft practitioner’s knowledge provides context for the students’ use of digital tools.
